Hi everyone,
Welcome to Productivity Plus, your weekly newsletter on how to get more done in less time. VALERIE'S TIP: SmartArt - turns you into a graphic designer, even when you’re not!
Have you discovered SmartArt in Word and Powerpoint? It's one of the most underused tools - but it's oh-so-powerful. We love SmartArt.
What does it do?
Here's an example of what you might be use to doing:
Seasonal Marketing
• Summer
o Promote warm weather merchandise
• Autumn
o Promote Easter long weekend loyalty cards
• Winter
o End Financial Year clearance
• Springo New products launch |
With SmartArt - which only takes seconds - you can create this:
PAUL’S TIP: The magic of “right clicking” your mouse
“Right-clicking” is one of the most under-used but simple tools in the office. We encourage you to experiment with right-clicking. You’ll be amazed with what you discover. You'll find some really cool options - you’ll go nuts!
Here are some examples:
"Send To:" Right-click a file in Windows Explorer and choose "Send To”.
• From there you can create a shortcut to that file and “Send To: Desktop” - It will go straight to the desktop.
• You can also "Send To: Mail Recipient" and your file will become an attachment in a new email message. • We often use "Send To: Drive" - for example, copying a file to USB flash drive E. This above can be done with multiple files or multiple folders - just select them all.
One-day workshop: Upgrading to Office 2007 - Thursday 4 February 2009 Have you recently upgraded to Office 2007? Is your team struggling with the NEW features, tabs and ribbons? Even though it's the same suite of programs, Office 2007 can seem like a whole new software package. You need to use it in a different way to previous versions.
If you have upgraded from Office 2003 (or earlier), all you need is the right training to learn our intuitive way to navigate your new software. An easier way to number-crunch •Enhance your spreadsheets with quick 3D charts and colourful comparisons. •Use NEW Office 2007 techniques to calculate totals without complex mathematics. Professional presentation has never been easier •Bullets can be boring, so convert a bulleted list into a graphical representation - such as a timeline, a workflow or concentric circles. This is NEW to Office 2007. •SmartArt is NEW to Office 2007. (Trust us, you'll love it.) Insert pictures into your Smart Art to visually enhance the points you are demonstrating. Don’t be a “slave” to your Inbox. •Outlook 2007 is NEW and improved. It's more than just emails and contacts - we’ll show you how to manage your time and workflow. •Convert items on your To Do List into appointments.
