Quote of the month

“Let us be about setting high standards for life, love, creativity, and wisdom. If our expectations in these areas are low, we are not likely to experience wellness. Setting high standards makes every day and every decade worth looking forward to.”

Greg Anderson, founder of the American Wellness Project.

A word from the MD, Peter Tobin

Last month, Worklife asked readers to participate in our annual Career Survey. Thank you to each and every one of you who took the time to provide us with some feedback. We look forward to bringing you the results and feedback over the next few months.

Also in the what’s new section, Worklife will take a look at emPOWER Magazine, an online subscription aimed at empowering aspiring women in their careers, life, health and spirituality. Recently one of Worklife’s long-time colleagues and friends began contributing to the career section of emPOWER, so please scroll down to read more.

As always, I hope you enjoy this issue of the Worklife News Alert for 2010. So we can keep improving and changing for 2010, don’t forget to tell us what you think - why not email us with your comments and suggestions (click here to contact us now).

Career Survey 2010: Where do you stand?

First of all, a huge “THANK YOU” to all those people who answered our call last month and completed the online Career Survey 2010. In this survey, we asked participants about their careers and their lives currently, how the differing elements in their life have been affected by the Global Financial Crisis and how these elements have changed since we conducted the initial survey 12 months ago.

Over the next few editions of the Worklife News Alert, we will bring you all the results and highlights from the survey as well as take a look retrospectively at how things have changed since last year.

Also as promised, and as a thank you for taking the time to complete the survey, next month Worklife will name the one lucky respondent who will receive a complimentary one hour coaching session with a Worklife Coach. To be conducted either face-to-face if you are Sydney based or over the phone if not, this will provide you with an opportunity to discuss your own career plans.

Tune in next month to read all the results!

This month, Worklife has chosen emPOWER Magazine for the what’s new section. While it is by no means new, it is ‘new’ to us as it has only recently come to our attention and in turn, we hope it may be ‘new’ for our readers.

Also known as ‘em’, this online magazine is aimed at aspiring women who are looking to achieve the most in their lives. “Whether you're aspiring for a successful career (or business), more fulfilling relationships, better health, more wealth or to feel more connected spiritually, emPOWER has been designed to assist you to reach your full potential.”

A good friend and long time colleague of Worklife’s, Jane Jackson, recently began writing feature articles for emPOWER’s Career section. To read Jane's article on dusting off your resume, click here.
